Images for DPS and advert
Here are a few of the original and edited images that I have used on the advert and DPS. The only editing I have done to the images is playing with the lightness and contrast, the only other editing I did was making some of the images black and white to make sure that they fit in with the colour scheme on the pages.
Final Advert
This is the final design for the TV advert. I decided to make the image black and white to stop the contrast with all of the green leaves and the typefaces I was using.
This final design has the name of the rider in colour to make the most important information on the page stand out from the rest of the black and white typefaces and the image.

Health & Safety while riding and filming
While we are filming and riding there are quite a lot of risks and dangers out in the woods and while riding fast.
This is not a problem as there are always First Aid trained people either on the side lines or filming. I myself am first aid trained and would be able to deal with most accidents that would happen while out filming. All of the trails and locations that are used in the films have been risk assessed before we began riding, we also checked that they have all been built and maintained by professionals to make sure that the rider is always safe.
I feel that I have done well in assuring that Zac was never in any danger or felt uncomfortable with the riding that he had to do. However falls do happen and Zac has had a few cuts and bruises while helping me film.

Clothing and props
For my documentary there cant really be a set costume or set props as it is meant to reflect reality, this means that the star of the documentary would not be in the same set of clothes all of the time.
However this is the jersey that Zac often rides in with a pair of jeans.
However this is the jersey that Zac often rides in with a pair of jeans.
This shows that he is quite interested in the sport as he has taken time to acquire the proper equipment for the sport, this is one of the 2013 racing jerseys for 'Fox Racing' and gives the rider a slightly more professional look that if he was just in a t shirt and jeans. I think this will work well for my documentary as I am trying to make the subject look as if they have a good understanding of the sport and this imagery of the jersey suggests that Zac (the rider) aspires to be good at the sport.
The bike Zac will be riding will be the only constant prop throughout the documentary. It is his bike so he would always be riding it while trying to get better at riding, the bike he has is a Kona Cowan and has been changed and adjusted to Zac's style of riding and how he feels comfortable. The only other props that are a constant are the helmets the riders use throughout the documentary. Here is an image of some of the helmets used.

Advert Draft 2
This is my second draft for my advert. I have adjusted a few of the fonts and the colours schemes a little bit.
I have put a black line around the two white titles to make them stand out a bit more from the busy background. I am trying to develop a black and white image for the background instead of this busy and very colourful background to the subject.
I kept the general information the same at the bottom of the image and exactly how it is aligned as it looks like it actually belongs at the start of a documentary. The typeface I used for it is has also stayed the same as it is simple but easy to read at the same time.

Advert Draft 1
The title of the documentary is 'Six Months In' as it entails that the rider has been learning to ride his bike properly for six months of this year, this is why I put the tittle of the documentary over the top of the image quite close to the rider to show that he is the subject of the documentary. The name at the top of the poster also dedicates itself to the subject of the documentary.
The alignment of the event information is all simply left aligned, this looks quite good but I will need to adjust the layout and sizing of the information as it is quite hard to read with the lighting over the landing of the jump.
The typefaces used for the name of the the rider is very simple and neat, I will probably use this typeface for the final advert, however the 'Six months in' type may need to change as it is a bit too bold yet quite hard to read with the different lighting in the background.
The image itself is very good on its own but I may need to take a new picture that is a bit easier to edit around, the lighting through the trees and on the ground makes the picture very hard to place text on as it has a lot of different tones and contrasts.

Audience Research Results
Question 1
The graph shows
that is is quite and even split between men and women who answered my
questionnaire.
Question 2
The majority of
the people asked where between the age range of 15-18 this is the ideal range
for teenagers watching my documentary.
Question 3
As you can see
from this pie chart the people who
answered my questionnaire watch mountain biking documentaries at least once a
week.
Question 4
Most of my audience watch sporting documentaries
on websites such as ‘Pinkbike’ or on the TV. Using this information I will plan
to release my documentary online.
Question 5
Most of the
audience would like to see either interview shots or actual riding compared to
shots of the riders lifestyle, I will try to make my video more riding
orientated.
Question 6
This graph shows that the audience enjoy point
of view shots and wide angled riding shots but would enjoy some close up shots.
Question 7
This questions answers show that most of the people we asked generally take part in the sport themselves, this means I wont have to explain too much about mountain biking in the documentary as most of the audience already participate in the sport.
Question 8
From the answers to this question you can see that the audience are looking for the inspiration to ride that they normally get from other documentaries like the one I am making. This means I will need to try and make the video exciting so that it will inspire people to go out and ride themselves.
Question 9
This question shows that most of the audience already mountain bike as a hobby, this means I can rely on them to be in the know about riding an allow them to make their own decisions about whether the riding is good or not. This does make it a lot easier to make as I wont have to explain much about riding as a sport or hobby in the video.
Question 10
Most of my audience are looking for excitement and inspiration in this documentary compared to information, because of this I will try and keep the video mostly riding and less just talking or lifestyle shots. Of course I will need some of the background and lifestyle of the rider to get context into the film, however most of the shots will be riding to keep up the excitement,
