Double Page Spread Evaluation 4

This DPS is stunning to look at with its bold colour scheme and layout, the bold imagery and typefaces make the article very bold and eye catching at the first look.

The imagery of the girl on the left is very bold and stands out on its own without the other page, the photography of the image and the composition is the main reason the image is so bold. The main reason the image is so bold is the style and colours of the subject, the girl is centrally positioned in the picture which shows that she is the subject of the picture. The colours in the image are also very subtle as her dark purple coat and light purple hat almost blend into the blurred background. This makes her stand out even more from the snow behind her. The other image is a black and white image in the 'A' on the other page, this image also stands out as it isnt the same colour as the rest of the article, this makes it look quite bold as its bordered by a bold black outline.

The typeface used for the tittle and article is very bold and stands out. The tittle font is slightly italic and gives the page a sense of movement and also contrasts the bigger bolder letter 'A' The letter itself has been resized so it is more of an image than a tittle, however it does form part of the tittle and therefore looks quite unique and strange at first. A different typeface has been used for the quotes and the main article of the DPS, this is so the reader can easily tell where the different parts of the article stop and start just by looking at the page. The more scriptive sans serif type used for the quote from the girl gives the article more of an informal look and feel to it compared to a normal article in a magazine.

The layout of the page and all of its components is what really sets this DPS apart from standard magazine articles, it is clear at a first glance that a lot of time and effort has gone into making this page visually pleasing and eye catching. Half of the two pages has been given over the image of the subject so the reader can instantly relate to her and understand who the article is about, the other half includes the article, tittle and quotes. These are all thoughtfully aligned on the page, the bold 'A' is the main source of order on the right hand page as the text is all aligned underneath it to create a sense of order and to make sure it stands out on the page. The article itself takes up very little room on the page as it is side by side with the quote from the girl, this doesn't take away any of the meaning from the actually article it just makes the page look a lot more punchy and in the readers face.
